Iran Rejects Further Talks with United States

PESHAWAR — The Iranian government has formally slammed the door on further diplomatic engagement with Washington, declaring that it currently maintains no intention or plan to initiate a new round of negotiations with the United States.

Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, delivered this definitive stance during a high-stakes news conference. He asserted that the prevailing geopolitical atmosphere renders US-Iran diplomatic relations impossible, accusing Washington of failing to learn from historical precedents and refusing to alter policies that yield consistently poor outcomes.

Policy Failures, Regional Instability

According to the Foreign Ministry, the persistence of American “errors” poses a significant threat to regional security. Baghaei emphasized that flawed policies cannot produce positive results and argued that the current American trajectory only breeds further tension.

“The United States’ actions escalate crises rather than fostering stability,” Baghaei stated. He further accused Washington of disseminating contradictory statements through media channels while Tehran maintains a singular, logic-based position. Baghaei dismissed various media claims regarding the negotiations as being entirely detached from reality.

The Trust Deficit, Allegations of Bad Faith

Central to Tehran’s refusal is a profound lack of trust. Baghaei contended that no party can rely on a nation that continues to lean on unrealistic demands and acts in direct contradiction to past agreements.

The spokesperson highlighted specific grievances, noting that the United States violated ceasefire terms by persisting with naval blockades. These actions, Baghaei argued, demonstrate a lack of genuine interest in diplomacy, compelling Iran to prioritize the protection of its own interests.

“We cannot sacrifice Iran’s national interests to any country’s bullying,” Baghaei remarked. He revealed that Tehran has briefed Pakistan, acting as a mediator, on the American ceasefire violations. While acknowledging Pakistan’s vigorous role in pursuing peace, Baghaei condemned the US for utilizing bases in neighboring countries to facilitate aggression against Iran.

Escalation in the Strait of Hormuz

The announcement follows reports that US forces seized an Iranian vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, an act that prompted the Iranian military to announce a retaliatory response.

Baghaei detailed that Iran had previously presented a 10-point proposal, which was a core focus during talks in Islamabad. However, he claimed the US refused to recognize the Lebanon ceasefire as part of the broader agreement and instead intensified tensions through naval blockades.

“The attack on the Iranian ship constitutes a violation of both the ceasefire and international law,” Baghaei said. He noted that while Iran had opened the Strait of Hormuz based on the Lebanon ceasefire, repeated “American dishonesty” indicates that Washington is not serious about de-escalation.

Nuclear Sovereignty

Addressing the sensitive issue of enriched uranium, Baghaei accused the US of manipulating the narrative through the media. He claimed that despite public rhetoric, Washington failed to even raise the transfer of enriched uranium during the formal negotiation rounds.

Furthermore, the spokesperson framed the pressure on Iran as an attempt by “enemies” to stifle the nation’s scientific progress. He defended the Iranian people’s right to scientific advancement, comparing it to any other nation’s rights, and alleged that adversaries have targeted Iranian universities and schools to impede this growth.

Baghaei concluded with a firm warning: “There will be no compromise on national security. The Iranian armed forces stand ready to deliver a rigorous response to any aggression.”
