PESHAWAR – The Shandur Polo Festival 2026 will take place from 11 June to 13 June at the historic Polo Ground in Upper Chitral, as authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) step up preparations for one of the region’s most iconic cultural events.
Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Suraiya Bibi, announced the dates while chairing a high-level meeting to finalise arrangements. She said the provincial government welcomes both domestic and international tourists to experience the Shandur Polo Festival 2026, often described as the highest polo festival in the world.

Officials confirmed that the festival will be held at an altitude of approximately 12,200 feet at the renowned Shandur Polo Ground. Authorities emphasized coordinated planning among all departments to ensure the successful execution of the Shandur Polo Festival 2026.
The meeting, led by Secretary Tourism Saadat Hassan, brought together key stakeholders including administrative officials from Chitral, representatives of the National Highway Authority, law enforcement, aviation authorities, and tourism bodies. Participants reviewed logistics, security, and infrastructure to manage the expected influx of visitors.

Suraiya Bibi directed all institutions to work collectively and efficiently to deliver a well-organised event. She also urged Pakistan International Airlines to operate special flights to Chitral during the festival days and maintain regular flight operations to facilitate tourism growth in the region.
Tourism officials highlighted that the Shandur Polo Festival 2026 remains a major cultural attraction, showcasing traditional freestyle polo between Chitral and Gilgit teams while promoting the scenic beauty of northern Pakistan.
