LAKKI MARWAT: A powerful motorcycle bomb killed nine people, including two traffic police officers, in Lakki Marwat’s Serai Naurang on Tuesday. The blast occurred near a busy railway crossing. This attack highlights the growing security challenges in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Saeed Khan, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for Serai Naurang, stated that most victims were pedestrians. These innocent bystanders were caught in the explosion during a peak hour of local activity. Law enforcement and emergency responders immediately cordoned off the area to manage the crisis.

Details of the Attack
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu, Sajjad Khan, confirmed that early evidence points to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Terrorists planted the device on a motorcycle and parked it near the railway gate to maximize casualties.
The RPO issued a stern statement following the incident:
“Law enforcement agencies are collecting all available evidence from the site. We will bring the terrorists and their facilitators to justice for this cowardly act.”

Emergency Response and Casualties
Rescue 1122 teams reached the site quickly to provide medical aid. Responders moved the victims to a nearby Basic Health Unit (BHU) for stabilization. However, several people remain in critical condition. Hospital officials confirmed they recovered the bodies of two traffic police officers from the scene.
Condemnation and Regional Context
Federal leaders sharply condemned the attack. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed solidarity with the victims’ families. He emphasized that the nation remains united in its resolve to eliminate terrorism.
This incident follows a troubling trend in the region. Last week, a suicide attack in neighboring Bannu killed 15 police officers. Militancy has risen steadily in Lakki Marwat, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan over the last three years. Terrorists continue to target security forces in a series of coordinated strikes.
