PESHAWAR — The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department has finalized a comprehensive blueprint to revolutionize the provincial law enforcement framework through its newly introduced modern police station initiative.
The landmark project aims to entirely replace the traditional, outdated “Thana culture” with a transparent, citizen-centric, and technologically driven policing network. By deploying advanced digital infrastructure, the provincial government expects to significantly boost public trust, streamline the delivery of justice, and improve administrative accountability.

Digitalization and Specialized Crime Units
Documents reveal that the upcoming model stations will transition away from manual paperwork to fully integrated automated systems. To address contemporary law enforcement challenges, the modern police station initiative introduces dedicated cells for digital forensics and specialized investigations.
Key infrastructural upgrades inside the model stations will include:
- Digital Complaint Registration Desks and Citizen Facilitation Centers.
- Specialized Cybercrime Units to investigate online fraud and digital offenses.
- Dedicated protection desks for women and children.
- A centralized Command and Control Room utilizing IP-based CCTV surveillance.

A Smart, Tech-Driven Legal Framework
To increase conviction rates and prevent structural loopholes, the plan incorporates an artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem alongside rigorous internal tracking.

Additionally, police personnel will gain access to modern workplaces, digital libraries, recreational rest areas, and ongoing training modules.

Home Department officials confirmed that these model units will initially serve as a pilot project. Once the framework proves its efficacy in boosting administrative transparency and enforcing the rule of law, the government plans to replicate this modern model across all districts of the province.
