PESHAWAR—The KP Tourism Authority has finalized a strategic roadmap to achieve complete financial independence within the next three years. Sources reveal that the Authority plans to execute ten mega-projects designed to eliminate its reliance on provincial government funding. By leveraging public-private partnerships, the KP Tourism Authority aims to attract massive investments, transforming itself into a self-sustaining entity by 2029.
Large-Scale Infrastructure and Integrated Tourism Zones
The KP Tourism Authority has identified several high-value locations for development to bolster provincial revenue. Key sites include lands in Mankyal (Swat), Ghanool (Mansehra), and Madaklasht (Chitral), where the government will establish Integrated Tourism Zones (ITZs). Additionally, the KP Tourism Authority plans to re-lease the Serena Hotel in Swat to the private sector for renewed investment and modernization.
In a move to diversify provincial attractions, the KP Tourism Authority is considering a landmark chairlift project stretching from Naran Bazaar to Lake Saiful Muluk, to be developed in collaboration with private investors. Other major projects include:
- Kheshgi (Nowshera): Construction of a recreational resort on 1400 kanals of land.
- Sardar Garhi (Peshawar): Establishment of a “Tourism Complex” on 8 kanals, expected to generate millions in annual revenue.
- Donga Gali (Abbottabad): Development of high-end apartments on 4 kanals.
Strategic Asset Management
To ensure long-term stability, the KP Tourism Authority is focusing on hospitality and real estate assets across the northern belt. Plans include the construction of a hotel on 5 kanals in Panakot (Upper Dir) and another facility on 2.5 kanals in Garam Chashma.
By transitioning these state-owned lands into revenue-generating commercial ventures, the KP Tourism Authority intends to stand on its own feet, moving away from the traditional model of state subsidies. Sources confirm that these projects will stabilize the authority’s balance sheet and create a significant number of local jobs through the involvement of the private sector in the province’s burgeoning tourism industry.
