PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has temporarily suspended its recently issued orders regarding the closing hours and operational timings for markets and commercial centers across the province.
According to a public notice issued by the Office of the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the competent authority has approved the immediate halt of the implementation of fixed closing times for business activities, markets, plazas, and other commercial establishments. The notification confirms that this decision will remain effective until further orders.

Energy Conservation Guidelines Remain Active
Despite the relaxation in business hours, the KP government emphasizes that energy conservation efforts must continue. The public notice explicitly directs citizens, commercial centers, restaurants, wedding halls, industries, and government offices to ensure the efficient use of energy.
The authorities have strictly urged all sectors to avoid unnecessary and wasteful electricity consumption, specifically highlighting the need to curtail excessive lighting and the improper use of air conditioners.

Immediate Enforcement and Implementation
Effective Date: These new orders have come into effect immediately from May 16, 2026.
To ensure strict compliance and smooth implementation of the suspension, the government has dispatched copies of the official notification to all administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, and deputy commissioners across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
