During the session, the Prime Minister directed the Finance Minister to proactively organize emergency backup funds. This financial safety net ensures an immediate response if incoming monsoon rains trigger widespread infrastructure damage or severe flooding.

In addition, the Prime Minister ordered that all safety measures, community evacuations, and flood containment plans follow a unified, comprehensive roadmap. This strategy aims to minimize the destructive impacts of climate change in Pakistan.

High-Level Teams Dispatched to Vulnerable Regions

To ensure absolute operational readiness on the ground, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued the following immediate directives:

  • Coordination Tours: The Minister for Climate Change and the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) must tour all four provinces this week.
  • Regional Audits: These teams will also visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan to inspect local preparations.
  • On-Site Readiness: These urgent visits aim to audit local disaster frameworks, secure vulnerable choke points, and finalize safety measures before the heaviest spells of rain hit.

Government circles emphasize that these preemptive administrative steps will prevent the systemic delays seen in past weather emergencies. Ultimately, these actions will establish a synchronized defense network across the country to combat the growing impacts of climate change in Pakistan.
