PESHAWAR – The administration of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) has dismissed reports regarding alleged irregularities in recent staff appointments. In a statement, the institution affirmed that all recruitment processes strictly adhere to the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Act 2015.

According to the HMC spokesperson, Waseem Khattak, the selection of personnel—including high-level administrative roles like the Medical Director—was conducted under the direct supervision of the Board of Governors (BoG). The hospital maintained that every step of the process followed legally defined procedures designed to ensure meritocracy.

Institutional Governance, Legal Authority

The HMC officials emphasized that the BoG holds the legal mandate under the MTI framework to make strategic administrative decisions.

“The recent administrative decisions fall within the legal authority of the BoG. These actions are fundamental to institutional governance and should not be misconstrued as irregularities,” the statement read.

The hospital clarified that:

  • No positions were filled outside the established legal framework.
  • All selections were finalized in accordance with prescribed MTI rules and regulations.
  • The Board of Governors remains fully empowered by law to oversee and approve these appointments.
