PESHAWAR – The Awami National Party (ANP) has delivered a sharp indictment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration. Specifically, the party describes the government’s performance as a complete failure. Party leadership asserted that the government remains “zero” for the public. However, they noted it appears successful for the forces that installed it.
Electoral integrity questioned
The ANP representative emphasized that the government should serve its constitutional tenure. However, he argued that this mandate must rest on genuine respect for the people’s will. He expressed grave concern over the erosion of democratic values. Furthermore, he alleged that powerful actors openly challenge the public mandate.
“I seek freedom for a democracy that remains captive,” the leader remarked. He added that the foundation of the state should rest solely on the sanctity of the vote. He further claimed that “powerful forces” continue to manipulate the electoral process. Specifically, he cited instances where officials miraculously transformed 35,000 votes into 135,000. These actions benefit the architects of the system rather than the electorate.
Shifting priorities
The party also criticized the provincial government’s legislative focus. Leadership argued that the KP government has abandoned its primary responsibilities. These include ensuring law and order, provincial autonomy, and the 18th Amendment.
Instead, the administration remains singularly focused on a one-point agenda: the release of “Niaz Ji.” By prioritizing personal loyalty over provincial prosperity, the government has paralyzed development. The ANP contends that this focus serves those who installed the setup. Meanwhile, millions of citizens continue to struggle with inflation and security concerns.

An ‘orphaned’ province
In a somber conclusion, the ANP leader described the status of the Pakhtun people as increasingly precarious. “The people of Pakhtunkhwa stand like an orphaned nation within Pakistan,” he stated. He noted that the system deprives them of their fundamental rights.
The party warned that the provincial youth are acutely aware of these systemic failures. As the ANP continues its ANP critique of KP government performance, it maintains a firm stance. Without a return to a genuine democratic mandate, the province faces a path of administrative and social decline.
