PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa revenue collection reached Rs150.84bn during the 2025-26 financial year, exceeding the revised target by about 8 percent, according to provincial Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam.
The province had set a revised own-source revenue target of Rs139.77bn for the year. The latest figures show that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa revenue collection reached about 108 percent of that target.
The province also exceeded its original budget target of Rs129bn, recording revenue collection equivalent to around 107.9 percent of the planned amount.
Tax revenue contributed Rs87.74bn, while non-tax revenue stood at Rs63.10bn. Non-tax revenue performed particularly well, reaching 120.5 percent of its revised target of Rs52.35bn.

Officials highlighted the performance during a ceremony held at the Finance Department in the Civil Secretariat in Peshawar. The government awarded certificates to heads of departments that performed strongly in own-source revenue collection.
The provincial government has now set a significantly higher target for the 2026-27 financial year. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa revenue collection is expected to reach Rs182.41bn, including Rs115.93bn in tax revenue and Rs66.48bn in non-tax revenue.

The new target represents an increase of about 41 percent over the original Rs129bn target set for 2025-26.
The increase puts greater pressure on provincial departments to improve tax administration, strengthen collection mechanisms, and expand non-tax revenue sources.
For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa revenue collection to continue rising, the government will need to sustain the performance recorded during the previous financial year while ensuring that higher targets do not create additional pressure on businesses and citizens.
