PESHAWAR: The KP Apex Committee met at Governor House Peshawar under the chairmanship of Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to review the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and discuss measures for eliminating terrorism and ensuring lasting peace in the province.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, members of the Advisory Council, the Peshawar Corps Commander, the Chief Secretary, the Inspector General of Police and other senior civil and military officials attended the meeting.
The meeting opened with a tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism and for the restoration of peace. Participants also offered Fateha for the departed souls.
Security Review and Intelligence-Based Operations
The KP Apex Committee reviewed the overall security situation in the province and assessed ongoing measures to eradicate terrorism and maintain sustainable peace. All relevant institutions were directed to take coordinated, effective and decisive steps to achieve these objectives.
The forum reaffirmed that intelligence-based operations against terrorists will continue, with all available resources being used to improve law and order across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Modern Equipment for Police and CTD
Stressing the need to strengthen the operational capacity of the police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the committee decided to provide both institutions with modern equipment, necessary and armoured vehicles, effective weapons, and adequate manpower.
Participants agreed that eliminating terrorism and maintaining peace remain a shared responsibility and top priority of all state institutions, with no compromise on these goals.
Focus on Education, Healthcare and Development
Beyond security, the meeting decided to give special attention to longstanding problems faced by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in education, healthcare, and the quality of life in urban areas. The committee observed that public welfare and access to essential services are directly linked to public security and sustainable peace.
Special focus will also be placed on promoting socioeconomic development and providing basic facilities in underdeveloped and conflict-affected areas. The forum further agreed to incorporate public suggestions, local needs and community priorities into policymaking so that government services reach people at their doorsteps.
The KP Apex Committee concluded the meeting with a commitment to strengthen coordination among all relevant institutions to achieve the shared goals of peace, stability and development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
