ISLAMABAD—Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan signed multiple agreements and Memorandums of Understanding covering trade, climate change, counter-terrorism, and IT during a ceremony in Bishkek. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the President of Kyrgyzstan attended the signing event.
The two leaders later held a joint press conference.
PM Shehbaz Sharif called the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan agreements a positive step toward deeper bilateral cooperation. He said the transit trade agreement between the two countries marks welcome progress.

The prime minister announced that Lahore and the Kyrgyz city of Osh will become sister cities. He said the move will strengthen cultural ties between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan. Shehbaz Sharif stated both countries will work together against terrorism and extremism.
He added that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan will support expansion of trade ties between the private sectors of both nations. The leaders also reached consensus on tackling climate change. The Prime Minister said both sides will promote cooperation in education, science, technology, and culture.
He welcomed the establishment of a joint ministerial group to advance the CASA energy project. Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan will simplify regulations to increase trade volume. The two countries target raising bilateral trade to $200 million.
“Pakistan wants to further expand its brotherly relations with Kyrgyzstan,” the prime minister said.
