PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Home Department has moved to modernize the provincial justice system. Following a high-level briefing, the government approved a series of technological reforms.
For instance, a centralized management system for prison visits now utilizes biometric verification.
KP Approves Vocational Training Centers for Inmate Rehabilitation
In a significant move for prisoner welfare, authorities are launching “Tele-Visit” facilities. This video calling service specifically targets women observing purdah, the elderly, and the infirm. Consequently, inmates can maintain vital connections with their families without the rigors of travel.

Furthermore, the KP government is implementing a digital tracking system for parolees. This technology ensures the timely release of eligible individuals to reduce overcrowding. Simultaneously, KP is establishing a “Legal Aid Agency.” This body provides free legal representation to the poor to ensure financial status does not block access to justice.
Finally, the reform package extends to the non-profit sector.
The “KP Charity Commission” is now fully functional to audit all welfare organizations. This prevents the misappropriation of funds. Moreover, under-trial records are being integrated with court databases. This step aims to eliminate judicial delays and streamline final verdicts.
