Tracking system for development projects restored to ensure effective monitoring

PESHAWAR – Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Shahab Ali Shah chaired a weekly review meeting, emphasizing the need for an efficient tracking system for development projects. The Planning and Development Department has reinstated this system to ensure timely and effective project completion. Officials reviewed the progress of various departmental targets and directed the Performance Management and Reforms Unit to provide regular updates.

The meeting highlighted the importance of tracking system for development projects in enhancing transparency and accountability. The system, now active in the Planning and Development Department, aims to monitor project timelines and streamline approvals. Shah stressed the need for expediting public welfare schemes and ensuring prompt completion of developmental initiatives.

Officials briefed the meeting on the restructuring of the Performance Management and Reforms Unit and the phased implementation of the tracking system for development projects across all departments. The Chief Secretary instructed all departments to fully integrate the system by 30 April to enhance administrative efficiency through e-governance.

The meeting also reviewed Peshawar Development Authority’s projects, including the northern section of Ring Road, the New General Bus Terminal, and traffic solutions at BRT stations in Abdara and Tehkal Bala. Progress on Peshawar’s beautification plan was discussed, with feasibility reports expected within three months.

Additionally, officials updated the meeting on the introduction of the e-Procurement and Disposal System (PADS-E) in eight departments, including Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Local Government, and Science and Technology. The system will be implemented province-wide by 1 July 2025, making digital procurement mandatory to reduce human intervention and minimize errors.

A dedicated cell in the Public-Private Partnership Unit has been established to facilitate investment and streamline operations under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). The meeting also reviewed 11 public-private partnership projects aimed at boosting the province’s infrastructure and services.
