PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has begun work on rainwater harvesting projects across multiple districts, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah announced during a weekly review meeting.
The rainwater harvesting projects form part of a broader seven-initiative development package directed toward all provincial districts, with deputy commissioners tasked to implement these programs within their respective administrative areas.
The announcement came as authorities reported substantial progress on existing infrastructure. The General Bus Stand construction project reached completion, while the Kabootar Chowk underpass initiative advances toward completion within record timelines. Officials disclosed that 69 beautification measures have already been executed across district-level administrative centers.
The rainwater harvesting projects represent one component of seven innovation-based initiatives shortlisted by provincial authorities. These seven initiatives encompass youth digital skills training, e-commerce development programs, telemedicine services through the “Umeed Sehat” program, digitization of district record rooms, establishment of mosque health desks, community flood warning systems, and disease prevention measures.
Deputy commissioners across all districts will oversee implementation of the rainwater harvesting projects alongside the complementary six initiatives. The Chief Secretary’s review meeting emphasized that these initiatives address development priorities at the grassroots administrative level, strengthening service delivery in provincial districts.
The rainwater harvesting projects commence as authorities process public complaints submitted through social media channels and standard administrative procedures. Officials continue pursuing beautification and infrastructure projects while rolling out the innovation-focused district initiatives package.
