PESHAWAR – Security forces have launched a massive combing operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s southwestern region following a fatal roadside attack. Specifically, terrorists targeted a police armored personnel carrier (APC) with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Tank District, leaving two police officers martyred and three others critically wounded.
Targeted Strike on Routine Patrol
According to local law enforcement, the police APC was conducting a routine security patrol along the main Tank-Waziristan road when the hidden device detonated. The powerful, targeted blast ripped through the armored vehicle, immediately causing casualties among the crew.

Among those who embraced martyrdom was Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Faridullah. Following the explosion, emergency rescue teams and backup units rushed to the scene to evacuate the victims. Responders shifted both the martyred officers and the three critically injured personnel to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Tank, where medical staff are currently providing emergency treatment to the survivors.
Security Mobilization and Combing Operations
Immediately after the attack, heavy contingents of police and security forces cordoned off the entire area to secure the blast site. Security personnel sealed all entry and exit points along the highway to block any potential escape routes used by the attackers.
Consequently, security forces launched a large-scale search and clearance operation across the surrounding landscape to track down the perpetrators. While law enforcement teams continue to gather forensic evidence from the site, no militant group has officially claimed responsibility for the ambush so far.
