PESHAWAR – The district administration has launched a massive, coordinated crackdown against illegal Afghan nationals across Peshawar and the wider Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. This mega operation specifically targets individuals staying without valid visas or overstaying their legal residency limits.
Strategic Deployment and Targeted Areas
To ensure a systematic rollout, the deputy commissioner of Peshawar has officially assigned supervisory roles to all assistant commissioners. Furthermore, authorities have handed over a comprehensive list of overstaying foreign citizens to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations and law enforcement agencies.

Afghan refugees return accelerates amid crackdown preparations
According to official sources, intelligence teams have already mapped out several commercial hotspots. Consequently, the crackdown will focus heavily on business centers where illegal Afghan nationals reside or run unauthorized businesses. These key locations include:
- Ashraf Road and Atta Market
- Andar Shehr and Khyber Bazar
- Namak Mandi and the Vegetable Market
- University Road and Peshawar Cantonment
Strict Residential Screening and Deportation Plans
In addition to business hubs, security teams have identified key residential sectors for screening. Areas like Afghan Colony, Faqirabad, and Corporation Colony will face strict verification protocols. Authorities have confirmed that arrested individuals will undergo rigorous biometric verification before facing a phased deportation process.
Afghan refugee camps face electricity, and eviction
Meanwhile, data reveals that nearly 25,000 Afghan migrants have already returned home from the neighboring Punjab province. Now, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is rapidly shifting gears to accelerate its own repatriation process.
Finally, due to sensitive security considerations, teams will only conduct the operation during daylight hours. Consequently, the administration will completely avoid night-time raids in both commercial markets and residential neighborhoods to ensure public safety.
