PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to formulate a comprehensive master plan for the organized development of Dera Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat districts. The initiative aims to control unplanned urban expansion and guarantee the sustainable use of land resources across both southern localities.
Following the provincial directives, the deputy commissioners of both districts have initiated preliminary procedures to execute the project.
Federal Govt Slashes Development Budget by Rs100 Billions
This developmental strategy aligns directly with the Provincial Land Use Plan. The KP government designed this framework to curb unregulated construction and manage expanding populations systematically. Authorities have already successfully implemented similar land use blueprints across six other districts in the province.
Under this new KP government comprehensive master plan, the administration will design a future course of action that prioritizes the strict protection of fertile agricultural lands. The plan focuses on maintaining regional ecological balances while addressing the rising civic and basic infrastructure needs of local citizens.

Integration with Safe City Projects
This urban planning initiative coincides with the provincial government’s recent security upgrades in the southern belt. The administration recently launched the Safe City Project in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat. This project introduces advanced digital surveillance networks and command centers to monitor key urban areas.
Officials state that combining the infrastructure mapping of the master plan with modern security surveillance will accelerate sustainable regional growth. The coordinated framework will enable administrative departments to allocate resources efficiently, optimize public transport routes, and establish designated commercial zones without encroaching upon vital food-producing rural lands.
