PESHAWAR: TransPeshawar has announced a BRT service suspension in Peshawar on most routes from 3pm on Wednesday as authorities step up security measures ahead of Muharram.

Massive Security Deployment Across Peshawar
Security officials have announced the deployment of more than 10,000 police and security personnel across Peshawar during Muharram.
Authorities have established command and control centres to monitor sensitive locations and oversee security operations in real time. Several markets in the inner city will remain closed during key observances, while schools located near major religious venues have been temporarily shut.
Officials said these measures form part of a comprehensive security plan aimed at preventing any untoward incidents.
More than 20 processions were held on 6 Muharram under heightened security arrangements. Police maintained a strong presence along procession routes and at gathering points.
Authorities said the security plan has so far helped ensure peaceful observance of Muharram events across the city.
Commuters Urged to Plan Travel
The BRT service suspension in Peshawar is expected to affect thousands of daily commuters. TransPeshawar has advised passengers to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative transportation where necessary.
Officials urged residents to follow traffic advisories and cooperate with law enforcement agencies during Muharram.
The BRT service suspension in Peshawar will remain in effect according to the announced schedule unless authorities issue further instructions.
