PM Shehbaz Sharif Hails Historic Global Recognition, Calls on Opposition for Unanimous Resolution

ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the National Assembly on Friday, calling on lawmakers to adopt a unanimous resolution to acknowledge a recent international milestone achieved by Pakistan.

Speaking during a lower house session, the prime minister emphasized the geopolitical significance of the country’s elevated global standing, urging both treasury and opposition benches to present a unified front on matters of national sovereignty.

Address Highlights Global Prestige and Strategic Importance

During his address, Prime Minister Sharif framed the country’s recent diplomatic breakthrough as a collective success for the nation’s 240 million citizens. The Premier noted that the recognition reflects a significant enhancement of Pakistan’s prestige across key international corridors, extending from East Asia to the Middle East, North Africa, and the Americas.

“Centuries pass for many nations and countries around the world in search of such honor,” the prime minister stated, “yet they do not achieve the respect that Almighty Allah has granted to Pakistan today.”

The Prime Minister explicitly cited the broad geographic resonance of this recognition, stating that the development has reinforced Pakistan’s diplomatic authority within the international community.

Executive Appeal for Parliamentary Consensus

In a direct appeal to the leadership of the Opposition, Prime Minister Sharif requested that political representatives rise above partisan differences to support a formal legislative motion.

The proposed unanimous resolution aims to achieve two primary objectives:

  • Institutional Consensus: Demonstrating to the international community that the country’s political leadership stands unified behind its strategic milestones.
  • Projecting Internal Stability: Sending a clear signal of state cohesion and harmony to foreign allies and global partners.

“Our political differences remain, but we stand as one for the nation’s honor,” Sharif declared, drawing support from across the aisle.

Institutional Recognition and State Accountability

The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of institutional accountability and gratitude, acknowledging the rigorous efforts of the diplomats and state officials who engineered the global breakthrough. He argued that a failure to recognize these contributions would be a disservice to the state and the public.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister recited a classical verse by Allama Iqbal, highlighting the rare and arduous process through which visionary leadership and national awakening emerge: “For thousands of years, the narcissus weeps over its lack of luster. With great difficulty, a discerning eye is born in the garden.”

As treasury benches prepare to table the motion, political analysts view the prime minister’s address as a strategic effort to leverage an external diplomatic success to foster domestic legislative consensus in Islamabad.
