PESHAWAR — The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department has ordered the immediate acceleration of infrastructure development across eight merged and frontier districts bordering Afghanistan. This major development push leverages a historic Rs16 billion federal funding package to construct 88 critical police facilities.

Consequently, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed chaired a high-level review to bypass administrative bottlenecks. The session focused heavily on land acquisition disputes, site transfers, and the immediate designation of alternative locations for stalled projects.

Heavy Financial Allocations Locked for Tribal Border Security

Out of the total Rs16 billion capital injection, planners have explicitly designated Rs2.25 billion for land procurement. Meanwhile, the remaining Rs 14.25 billion will fund the physical construction of police lines, stations, checkpoints, and official residences for District Police Officers (DPOs).

  • Kurram District (Rs2.75 billion): Investment secures the Parachinar and Sadda police lines, 5 police stations, and 12 checkpoints.
  • Mohmand District (Rs2.66 billion): Projects include the central Mohmand police lines, 4 police stations, and 1 checkpoint.
  • Orakzai District (Rs2.50 billion): Budget isolates the Orakzai police lines, 2 police stations, and 8 checkpoints.
  • Frontier Regions & South Waziristan (Rs1.02 billion): Funding secures the Wana police station in South Waziristan (Rs265m), two stations in FR Tank (Rs441m), and a station and checkpoint in FR Dera Ismail Khan (Rs316m).

Directives Issued to Resolve Land Disputes via Alternative Sites

During the session, regional and district police officers briefed the chair via video link regarding localized ownership gridlocks. In response, the IGP stated that police leadership is actively coordinating with district administrations and revenue authorities to resolve property deadlocks. Teams have already identified alternative state land for several disputed positions.

Joint leadership emphasized utilizing all available security assets to sustain long-term peace across the frontier.
