"No 28th Constitutional Amendment is Coming," Assures Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD — The Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, categorically dismissed rumors of any impending legislative shifts, stating that “no 28th Constitutional Amendment is coming.”

Speaking in a detailed interview, Sanaullah emphasized that amendments addressing local government systems, healthcare, and population issues require a baseline consensus that currently does not exist. “Until there is complete agreement, no amendment will move forward, and right now, there is no consensus on any of these issues,” he clarified.

Breakthrough Diplomatic Brokerage in Islamabad

Beyond domestic politics, Sanaullah teased an imminent, high-stakes diplomatic breakthrough mediated by Pakistan’s military leadership. He announced that a powerful, positive message will echo globally within the next 24 to 48 hours regarding Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir’s pivotal visit to Iran.

Islamabad will soon host a high-profile signing ceremony to formalize an agreement framework between the United States and Iran. According to Sanaullah, the core of the negotiations revolves around key Iranian demands:

  • The immediate lifting of economic sanctions.
  • The restoration and unfreezing of restricted international financial assets.

He noted that while both nations will establish a fundamental policy decision this week, specific technical clauses will undergo a phased negotiation process over time.

Harsh Criticism of PTI and Imran Khan

Turning his attention to internal security and opposition politics, the Prime Minister’s advisor launched a fierce critique against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its jailed founder, Imran Khan. Sanaullah asserted that PTI has compromised its status as a conventional political entity.
