PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Sohail Afridi has ordered all provincial departments to take immediate legal action against any unsubstantiated corruption claims within three days.

This aggressive move marks a major escalation in the ongoing KP government corruption debate, especially as the political temperature rises.

Unfounded Allegations

While chairing a vital meeting of the provincial cabinet, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi fiercely rejected what he termed a “deliberate and malicious narrative.” According to him, this campaign is designed solely to mislead the public about the financial integrity of his administration.

The chief minister welcomed newly inducted ministers, advisors, and special assistants. Afterward, he laid down a strict policy regarding public accountability and media propaganda. Specifically, he announced that any administrative officer who fails to legally challenge baseless allegations within 72 hours will face strict disciplinary action.

“When there is no corruption, we will not allow anyone to run a false propaganda campaign against us,” Chief Minister Afridi stated. “Therefore, if any individual or institution holds genuine proof, my doors are open. Bring the verifiable evidence to the CM Secretariat, and we will take immediate action.”

In addition to this, the CM ordered the Health Department to investigate recent allegations leveled by local doctors. Furthermore, he demanded that the investigation’s findings be made public immediately to clear the air.

Cabinet Condemns Federal High-Handedness in Islamabad

Meanwhile, the provincial cabinet strongly condemned the federal government’s recent treatment of KP leadership in Islamabad. Indeed, they warned that such high-handed tactics threaten national cohesion.

The cabinet highlighted several critical issues regarding the federal-provincial rift:

  • Threat to National Unity: First, the CM remarked that treating elected public representatives with hostility promotes deep regional divisions.
  • Violence Against Political Workers: Second, the cabinet expressed deep sorrow over a recent shooting incident. Unfortunately, this violence resulted in gun wounds to three peaceful political workers.
  • Medical Rights for Imran Khan: Finally, the cabinet unanimously demanded that former Prime Minister Imran Khan be provided top-tier medical facilities. Crucially, this must happen under the supervision of his personal doctors.

In conclusion, the meeting ended with a renewed vow from the cabinet. Moving forward, they plan to aggressively defend the province’s mandate against external political pressure.
