PESHAWAR—The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have released a comprehensive performance report for the first quarter of the year. The KP Police counter-terrorism operations report details a series of high-stakes actions that successfully dismantled several major terror networks.
Under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan, the provincial force thwarted 106 out of 194 attempted attacks. Consequently, this proactive stance has significantly stabilized the regional security landscape.

Crushing the Terror Network
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted 1,087 intelligence-based operations over the past three months. As a result, these actions led to the elimination of 108 high-profile terrorists during intense encounters. Furthermore, security forces apprehended 283 militants. This group included three top-tier commanders with bounties on their heads and a female suicide bomber intended for a major strike.
However, this victory came at a heavy cost. While the integration of modern technology and enhanced fortification failed 106 attacks, 59 brave police officers embraced martyrdom. Additionally, 88 others sustained injuries during these frontline confrontations.

- Over 16,000 pistols, 1,214 Kalashnikovs, and half a million rounds of ammunition.

Simultaneously, the police launched a crackdown on the narcotics trade that often funds criminal activities. Authorities registered 7,771 FIRs and arrested 7,751 suspects. During these raids, the police recovered 5,695 kg of hashish and 847 kg of “ice” (Crystal Meth).

National Action Plan Progress
Beyond active combat, the police executed 6,684 search-and-strike operations under the National Action Plan (NAP). During these sweeps, officers checked over 72,000 houses, leading to the arrest of 21,531 suspects. Additionally, the foreign act was strictly enforced. This resulted in the detention of 8,558 illegal residents.
The IGP also reviewed community-oriented progress. Specifically, the Complaint Redressal Cell (PAS) successfully resolved 2,195 public complaints. Meanwhile, Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs) settled 1,559 chronic disputes through mutual consensus. This dual approach of hard security and community policing remains central to the KP Police’s strategy for lasting peace.
