SWABI – Women University Swabi Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ghazala Yasmeen has emphasised that promoting entrepreneurship among youth is essential for innovation and economic development, saying universities must equip students with practical skills to turn creative ideas into sustainable ventures.
She expressed these views while addressing a specialised training session at the university.
The one-day experiential training seminar, titled “From Idea to Impact: An Entrepreneurial Journey,” was organized by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at Women University Swabi, in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA).

Developing the Entrepreneurial Mindset
The training session, facilitated by Dr. Rabia Gul, provided 85 participating students with professional insights into the core pillars of business ownership. Dr. Gul focused on entrepreneurial mindset development, idea validation, business modeling, and pitching skills.
Highlighting the importance of creativity, innovation, and market awareness, Dr. Gul encouraged students to explore business opportunities based on their unique ideas and skills. The seminar aimed to bridge the gap between academic theory and the practical realities of building successful entrepreneurial ventures.

Strengthening Academia-Industry Linkages
Registrar Mr. Tayyab Ur Rehman addressed the gathering, appreciating SMEDA’s initiative in supporting youth entrepreneurship and acknowledging the role of ORIC in strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
In a significant step toward broadening academic exposure, the seminar included 11 students from the Government College of Management Sciences Kotha Swabi, an affiliated college of Women University Swabi. Mr. Rehman termed the inclusion of students from affiliated colleges in university-level academic activities an important move for the institution.
