The Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan (AKFP) delivered humanitarian aid and social services worth Rs 26.41 billion in 2025, reaching more than 24.6 million people across the country. Khalid Waqas, the President of Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (AKF KP), detailed these figures during a press briefing on Thursday.

Waqas described a massive operational scale that addressed everything from recurring natural disasters to digital education throughout the year defined by domestic disaster response and international relief efforts. The Alkhidmat Foundation welfare activities now span disaster management, healthcare, orphan care, and a flagship IT training program that seeks to bridge the nation’s unemployment gap.

The Gaza Relief Operation

A significant portion of the foundation’s 2025 budget supported the Palestine (Gaza) Relief Operation. Waqas reported that Alkhidmat delivered 6,014 tons of aid—valued at Rs 9.09 billion—to the besieged territory. Looking ahead, the foundation has already allocated Rs 15 billion for reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in Gaza to rebuild essential infrastructure.

Responding to Domestic Crises

Closer to home, the foundation faced severe challenges from floods and heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa throughout 2025. While rescue operations have concluded, Waqas noted that rehabilitation and resettlement efforts remain ongoing.

The situation in the Tirah Valley has become a recent priority. Heavy snowfall and regional instability have displaced thousands in the area. In response, Alkhidmat teams are currently on the ground providing:

  • Emergency Supplies: Tents, tarpaulins, and food rations.
  • Winter Relief: Quilts, blankets, and warm clothing to combat freezing temperatures.
  • Healthcare: Mobile medical camps for displaced families.

Digital Empowerment: Bano Qabil 2.0

The foundation is also betting on technology to solve the youth unemployment crisis. Under the Bano Qabil program, Alkhidmat established 50 centers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, offering 28 free IT courses. More than 10,000 students graduated in 2025, many of whom have already secured local or online employment. Following this success, Waqas announced the launch of “Phase Two” to expand the program’s reach.+2

Ramadan 2026 and Future Challenges

As the province prepares for Ramadan 2026, Alkhidmat has finalized plans for a widespread food distribution network. The initiative will include roadside iftars, subsidized bread (nan) projects, and the distribution of Eid gifts. Special programs will also take place at the foundation’s Aghosh Homes, which provide residential care for orphans.

Despite the record spending, Waqas acknowledged that the foundation faces growing hurdles. Rising inflation, climate-linked disasters, and the increasing number of street children continue to strain resources. Waqas appealed to donors to sustain their support, emphasizing that the scale of the need in regions like Tirah and among low-income families remains immense.
