KP facing dual brunt of climate change, terrorism: Shafiullah

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Shafi Jan, declared on Saturday that the overwhelming public participation in the Swabi street movement serves as a decisive mandate against federal oppression and the “political victimization” of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Speaking via an official statement, Jan stated that the massive crowds in Swabi prove the public still views Imran Khan as the sole national leader and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as their true political representative.

Key Highlights of the Movement

The Special Assistant highlighted several critical points regarding the current political climate:

  • Public Sentiment: Following successful demonstrations in Punjab, Sindh, and other KP districts, the Swabi street movement showcased “unprecedented public enthusiasm.”
  • The Core Demand: Citizens are demanding the immediate release of Imran Khan, the stabilization of democracy, and an end to the current federal administration.
  • Leadership on the Ground: Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is leading from the front, having recently staged a sit-in outside Adiala Jail and moved the Supreme Court to advocate for party rights.

Concerns Over Imran Khan’s Health

Shafi Jan issued a stern warning to federal authorities regarding the treatment of the PTI founder. He accused the federal government of being so intimidated by Khan’s popularity that they are “playing with his health” in custody.

“The entire nation is united on this front. We will not tolerate any compromise regarding Imran Khan’s well-being or safety,” Jan stated.

A Peaceful Struggle for Democracy

Despite the high tensions, Jan reiterated that the Swabi street movement remains strictly peaceful. He noted that while the party possesses significant “street power,” it avoids confrontation in alignment with Imran Khan’s philosophy of non-violent political struggle.

He concluded by stressing that a strong democracy—upheld by the rule of law and the Constitution—is the only path toward Pakistan’s economic stability and prosperity.
