Peshawar — Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan delivered five trucks of relief goods at the Torkham border to support Afghan earthquake victims. Officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan received the aid.
The relief consignment for Afghan earthquake victims included 200 tents, 500 tarpaulins, 500 food packages, 500 winter packages, and 3,000 cartons of clean drinking water. Alkhidmat Foundation’s provincial president Khalid Waqas and Peshawar president Arbab Abdul Haseeb handed over the aid to the Islamic Emirate’s representative, Maulvi Syed Muhammad Faiz Qadri.
Two days earlier, a powerful earthquake struck Afghanistan’s Kunar province and killed more than 2,200 people while injuring over 3,000. After the disaster, Alkhidmat Foundation President Professor Dr Hafeez ur Rehman, under the guidance of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, directed provincial leadership to meet Afghan Consul General in Peshawar, Hafiz Moheb Ullah. Afghan officials shared a list of urgent supplies for Afghan earthquake victims.
Alkhidmat Foundation arranged relief aid worth millions of rupees (US dollar equivalent included) and transported the first phase through the Torkham border. The foundation confirmed that it will continue to send more consignments for Afghan earthquake victims.
At the handover, Khalid Waqas said Pakistan and Afghanistan share deep historic and religious ties. He stated that Pakistan has always supported Afghanistan in difficult times and promised that Alkhidmat Foundation will keep standing with Afghan earthquake victims until their rehabilitation.
