PESHAWAR – The federal government has approved development projects for higher education institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials confirmed that 2.8bn rupees have been earmarked for Hazara University in Mansehra, while 1.34bn rupees will fund a women’s hostel complex at the University of Malakand.
According to documents shared with the provincial government, the funds for Hazara University will be used to build new academic departments, laboratories, and essential infrastructure. Officials stated that the expansion is aimed at providing students with modern learning facilities and strengthening the university’s research capacity.

The University of Malakand will use the allocated funds to build a residential complex equipped with modern amenities for female students. Authorities explained that the project aims to address the shortage of safe and affordable accommodation for women pursuing higher education in the region.
Sources confirmed that the federal government has formally communicated its approval to the provincial administration, instructing it to begin work on the projects without delay.

In addition, the government also approved the rehabilitation of the old Bannu Road with an allocation of 25bn rupees and the upgradation of the N-55 highway from Dera Ghazi Khan to Dera Ismail Khan.
Officials said the projects will not only improve educational opportunities but also generate employment during the construction phase. Analysts welcomed the development, saying the investment will strengthen higher education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in regions that have long suffered from underfunding.
Provincial authorities have assured that work will start immediately, with strict monitoring mechanisms to ensure transparency in the use of funds.
