PESHAWAR – A deadly bomb blast in Bajaur on Tuesday killed four people, including Assistant Commissioner Nawagai and a Tehsildar.
The explosion occurred in the Phattak Mela Ground area of Nawagai Tehsil, where an improvised explosive device (IED) struck their vehicle and destroyed it instantly. Two bodyguards also lost their lives in the blast, while ten other individuals sustained injuries

District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq confirmed the deaths, saying the victims included Assistant Commissioner Nawagai Faisal Ismail, Tehsildar Abdul Wakeel, Subedar Noor Hakeem, and a police constable. “Four people have been martyred in the bomb explosion,” he said, adding that the device had been planted and detonated remotely.
The bomb blast in Bajaur prompted an immediate response from security forces. Police and rescue teams arrived swiftly, cordoning off the area and transferring the bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar.

Authorities launched a search operation shortly after the attack. They are now gathering forensic evidence and intelligence from the scene. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast in Bajaur.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur immediately ordered an inquiry into the blast. Meanwhile, Advisor on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif stated, “We will not allow enemies of the state to succeed in their plans. We will ensure that those responsible face justice.” His remarks came shortly after provincial authorities condemned the attack in strong terms.
In a related development, Advisor on Health Dr. Ahtisham Ali contacted the District Health Officer and the Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hospital Bajaur. He instructed them to ensure the injured receive all necessary medical support without delay.
The provincial government and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa strongly condemned the bomb blast in Bajaur. Consequently, officials have pledged to tighten security for civil administration staff. They also vowed to continue operations against militant networks targeting state personnel.
Investigators are currently gathering evidence and recording statements to identify the perpetrators. Furthermore, the inquiry will examine whether any lapses in security led to the attack. Authorities expect to release more findings as the investigation progresses.
