PESHAWAR – The Abaseen Foundation was born out of a simple yet profound belief: education could change lives. Fifteen years ago, what began as a modest effort has now flourished into an institution that has shaped futures, broken barriers, and given thousands of children the chance to dream beyond their circumstances.

On 15 February 2025, the foundation marked its 15th anniversary. It was more than an event—it was a gathering of people whose dedication turned an idea into a movement. Former and current Board of Governors (BOG) members, school principals, pioneer members, teachers, and staff came together, not just to reflect on the past but to reaffirm their commitment to the cause that binds them all.In the audience sat Brig (R) Gulman Sher Afridi (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), the man who envisioned the foundation long before it became a reality.

His journey began with a conviction that education must reach those who need it the most. “Education is not just about books and exams—it is about dignity, opportunity, and hope,” he said, recalling the foundation’s earliest days when resources were scarce, but resolve was abundant. The event paid tribute to those who built this legacy from the ground up.

Mr. Said Man Sher, the first director of Rahim Education Complex, spoke of the struggles and triumphs of laying the foundation’s academic roots. Mr. Muhammad Zahir Shah, a founding BOG member and staff training lead, reflected on the challenge of training teachers who would go on to shape young minds. Mr. Tahir Khattak, the chief architect and construction supervisor, recounted the long hours spent turning empty land into classrooms filled with eager learners. Dr. Rukhsana Farooqi, a key philanthropic contributor, shared how her passion for education translated into action.

Mr. Ahmad Zaman, director of procurement and infrastructure, spoke about the logistical battles fought to ensure every child had access to proper learning spaces. The most poignant moment came when Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Zaman, the foundation’s visionary founder and current CEO, took the stage. His words carried the weight of years spent building, sustaining, and expanding the initiative.

“This foundation is not just ours—it belongs to every teacher who stood firm, every donor who believed, and every student who dared to dream,” he said. He extended heartfelt gratitude to Abaseen Foundation UK and its steadfast supporters, Mr. William Bingley and Ms. Helen Bingley, whose generosity helped turn aspirations into reality.

A key highlight of the event was the shield-giving ceremony, where BOG and pioneer members were honored for their unwavering contributions. In a simple yet meaningful gesture, a special lunch was arranged for teachers and staff—a moment of appreciation for those who make the classrooms come alive each day.As the evening came to a close, the conversations were not about achievements, but about what lay ahead. The Abaseen Foundation’s story is far from over. It is a living, breathing testament to the power of education and the collective will to make a difference.

The road ahead is long, but as the foundation continues its mission, one truth remains: the future is built in classrooms, and the Abaseen Foundation is ensuring that no child is left behind.
