Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to Receive Reinforcements as CM Prioritizes Security Measures

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police are set to receive significant reinforcements, as Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur directed authorities to expedite recruitment and procurement processes during a recent high-level meeting.

The session reviewed ongoing efforts to strengthen the police force, including new hiring, vehicle acquisitions, and enhancements for frontline operations, amidst heightened security concerns in the province.

The meeting highlighted the creation of 1,356 new police positions across southern districts to support Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, with 1,200 constable appointments in the final stages. Chief Minister Gandapur also expanded the quota for children of fallen officers from 5% to 12.5%, filling 246 positions for them as assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) in key districts such as Peshawar, Mardan, and Kohat.

An additional 72 ASI positions will be filled soon.For broader recruitment, 1,153 roles under the in-service quota have been forwarded to the Public Service Commission.

Additionally, cases for 631 ASI posts under a 25% recruitment quota are also under review.Enhancing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police mobility, the government has allocated 802 million rupees for vehicle acquisitions. So far, 34 double-cabin, 15 single-cabin, and 30 other vehicles, along with 15 motorcycles, have been purchased. Bulletproofing of 79 additional single-cabin 4×4 vehicles, with a budget of 760 million rupees, is underway.

Chief Minister Gandapur instructed officials to ensure swift completion of all recruitment and procurement activities, emphasizing that these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to securing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He encouraged the police to adopt proactive, non-traditional approaches to meet current security challenges effectively.The session was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Additional Chief Secretary for Home Affairs Mohammad Abid Majeed, and the Acting Inspector General of Police.

Expanding on security measures, Chief Minister Gandapur also urged authorities to continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these reinforcements for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police. He urged the importance of regular training, advanced equipment, and enhanced regional coordination to maintain robust law and order across the province.
