NationalsPeshawar: The provincial government has decided to establish a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Security Unit for Foreign Nationals, especially Chinese workers, following the recent terrorist attack on Chinese engineers in Karachi.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, where security arrangements for Chinese nationals working on various development projects across the province were thoroughly reviewed.

During the meeting, which included the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, and other top officials, it was revealed that 24 ongoing development projects in the province involve Chinese workers. To ensure their safety, 8,578 security personnel have already been deployed.

A Foreign Security Dashboard is also operational to monitor the security of these workers, part of the initiative to strengthen the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Security Unit for Foreign Nationals. Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized that the security of Chinese nationals is of utmost importance, and no compromises would be made. He instructed authorities to improve coordination between departments and ensure that regular security audits are conducted. He also directed the creation of checkpoints on motorways to verify the NOCs of foreign nationals and asked for weekly meetings between commissioners, RPOs, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Security Unit for Foreign Nationals to enhance the protection measures for these workers.

The Chief Minister assured that the provincial government highly values China’s role in local development projects and will take all necessary measures, including securing federal resources like bulletproof vehicles and utilizing helicopters if needed, to ensure the security of foreign nationals.
