PESHAWAR—The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly has condemned statements by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah and Azma Bukhari linking Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces to terrorism in Punjab.
The provincial assembly has also recommended action against Maryam Nawaz under Article 6 of the Constitution over her alleged statements concerning terrorism.
Law Minister Aftab Alam presented a resolution during the provincial assembly session. The house approved the resolution by a majority vote.

The resolution described the statements by Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah and Azma Bukhari as contrary to facts, irresponsible and driven by political interests.
It said such statements undermine the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
The resolution also criticised the use of terrorism as a political issue. It said linking one province to terrorism and creating divisions between provinces could harm national unity and the federal structure.
KP Assembly highlights sacrifices
The KP Assembly said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has made significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. It stressed that terrorism is not limited to one province or region but remains a national challenge.
According to the resolution, Pakistan can address terrorism only through national unity, mutual trust and a coordinated strategy.
The assembly also warned against statements that could create hostility between provinces. It said attempts to associate a province with terrorism could undermine its sacrifices and damage the national effort against militancy.
Assembly recommends Article 6 action.
The resolution called on the federal government to take necessary legal action against Maryam Nawaz under Article 6 of the Constitution.
The provision deals with high treason. The assembly’s recommendation followed its condemnation of remarks that members said could damage relations between the provinces and weaken national unity.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly maintained that political differences should not be allowed to undermine the sacrifices made by citizens and security personnel in the fight against terrorism.
