ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, along with senior party leadership, staged a protest outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan today, alleging a “gross violation of human rights” and expressing grave concerns over the health of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Chief Minister’s move to Islamabad follows a high-voltage sit-in outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi that lasted until 10:00 PM the previous night.

Concerns Over Secret Eye Surgery
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court building, CM Sohail Afridi claimed that the founding chairman of PTI underwent an eye operation that was kept hidden from his family and legal team.
“The matter moved from Adiala Jail to PIMS Hospital, but the family was not informed. Our biggest concern is that there is no retina specialist available at PIMS Hospital,” Afridi stated.
He further alleged that the government spent five days denying the illness while an examination had already taken place inside the jail. He criticized the timing and lack of transparency regarding the hospital transfer.

Demand for Personal Doctors and Judicial Intervention
The Chief Minister emphasized that the party has no trust in the federal government, which he described as a “mandate-thieving regime” imposed after the allegedly rigged 2024 elections.
Key demands voiced by the CM include:
- Medical Access: Imran Khan must be allowed an examination by his personal doctors.
- Legal Meetings: Immediate restoration of meetings with his legal team and family.
- Judicial Action: While the CM could not meet Chief Justice Yahya Afridi today, he met with the Registrar to present a case regarding the “gross rights violations” against the former PM.

“Options are Open”
Sohail Afridi warned that if their grievances are not addressed by the judiciary, the party remains prepared for further action. “We are waiting for a response from the court; until then, we are staying put. We have other options available to us if our leader is not protected,” he added.
The protest outside the Supreme Court has drawn a significant number of party workers, leading to heightened security in the capital’s Red Zone.
