Terrorism, Crime Under Scrutiny In High-Level Police Meeting

Security Forces Kill 10 Terrorists in Targeted KP and Balochistan Raids

PESHAWAR – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed chaired a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office, Peshawar, to review the province’s security and law and order situation. Senior police officials from Peshawar, Malakand, and Bannu regions joined in person and through video links.

The meeting gathered Additional IGP Operations Muhammad Ali Babakhel, Special Branch Chief Dr. Shoaib Abbas, CCPO Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed, RPO Malakand Sher Akbar, and RPO Bannu Sajjad Khan. Each official shared a detailed briefing on ongoing counterterrorism operations, intelligence-based raids, and security measures for police installations in Swat, Bajaur, and Lower Dir.

Strengthening police response

The IGP directed regional police heads to step up proactive policing and ensure swift, result-oriented actions against terrorist groups and criminals. He urged better coordination among all law enforcement agencies and emphasized real-time intelligence sharing to stop militant networks from regrouping.

RPO Bannu Sajjad Khan said joint operations with other security forces are ongoing in Bannu, Kulachi, and North Waziristan to dismantle militant hideouts. He added that police have rebuilt and reinforced all frontline posts and checkpoints destroyed in past attacks, which now enables officers to respond quickly to new threats.

RPO Malakand Sher Akbar reported that police in his region remain fully alert and capable of defending their positions. He said intelligence-based operations (IBOs) continue in Malakand with strong support from the Special Branch and other agencies.

Enhanced resources and renewed morale

The IGP said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police are receiving new resources to strengthen infrastructure and morale. He explained that officers in high-risk areas now have modern weapons and bulletproof vests to improve operational readiness. Zulfiqar Hameed praised the commitment of field officers and called community-level intelligence a key tool against militancy and organized crime.

He said terrorism and organized crime are linked threats that require continuous focus and coordinated action. He appreciated the courage of officers serving in conflict zones and reaffirmed the department’s resolve to ensure public safety and lasting peace across the province.
