PESHAWAR – Security forces foil suicide attack attempt on Pakistan-Afghanistan border by arresting five Afghan suicide bombers. The group crossed into Kurram district on 17 July, triggering an immediate response.
According to intelligence sources, the suspects entered Pakistan at 6:25 pm. Since prior alerts had been issued, army personnel and intelligence teams swiftly deployed checkpoints at five strategic locations.

The attackers, all members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (backed by India), moved toward Aziz Khel and Mandi Khel. As soon as they spotted security forces, they rushed into a mosque in Basi Khel village to hide.
Rather than using force, the security forces used smart tactics to contain the threat. They cordoned off the area and convinced the attackers to surrender peacefully. As a result, all five were captured alive without any exchange of fire.

All of them turned out to be Afghan nationals. Interestingly, three carried valid Afghan ID cards. Their ages ranged between 15 and 18 years, raising serious concerns about extremist recruitment of teenagers.
Immediately after the arrest, officials transported the suspects to a secure location. Intelligence agencies are now questioning them to identify their handlers, targets, and other members of the network.
This operation highlights the high level of coordination among security agencies. More importantly, security forces foil suicide attack attempt on Pakistan-Afghanistan border without civilian casualties, showcasing tactical expertise and preparedness.
