Peshawar – Employees of Pakistan Television (PTV) Corporation have warned the state broadcaster’s administration that they will stage a protest outside Parliament House if long-pending salaries and dues are not released immediately.

The PTV Employees Coordination Council said the management’s failure to address months-long delays in salary payments has pushed many workers into financial hardship. Both permanent staff and daily-wage employees have reportedly gone unpaid for several months, with some relying on loans to cover essential living expenses, including utility bills and school fees.

“The administration appears indifferent to the financial suffering of its staff,” said a council representative to The Peshawar Post. “Employees are increasingly turning to borrowing just to manage day-to-day costs.”

Council officials also alleged that PTV management has been issuing misleading statements to parliamentary committees and the media, claiming that outstanding payments have been cleared. In reality, they said, retired employees have not received pensions or commutation payments since 2022, and requests for advances against GP and CP funds are being routinely denied.

The employees further accused the organisation of unchecked misgovernance. According to the council, a group within PTV—allegedly supported by officials from the Ministry of Information—has been engaging in irregular hiring practices, even as existing staff go without pay. The council claims there has been no transparency or accountability in these appointments.

Workers from PTV centres across the country have now rallied under the umbrella of the PTV Employees Coordination Council. They say internal divisions have been set aside in favour of collective action to safeguard both employee rights and the financial stability of the national broadcaster.

“If the non-payment of salaries continues, countrywide protests will be inevitable,” the council said in a formal statement.

PTV management and government officials have not yet publicly responded to the council’s claims. However, with pressure mounting, employees say they expect urgent intervention to prevent further deterioration in staff morale and institutional performance.
