Militants Burn National Flags, Check IDS On Bannu Road

PESHAWAR – Militants set up an illegal checkpoint on the Bannu–Peshawar highway late at night. They stopped vehicles and forced passengers out. The armed group checked identity cards and burned Pakistani national flags. The act spread fear among travelers.

Eyewitnesses said the blockade lasted several hours. No police or law enforcement reached the spot. Videos on social media showed militants carrying modern weapons. The footage added to public panic.

At Hovid Adda, militants blocked traffic again. They searched passengers and asked about government employees and security personnel. Locals said the incident proved that militants burned national flags and checked IDs on Bannu road without resistance.

Analysts warned that these actions project militant strength and challenge state authority. Citizens urged the government and security forces to secure highways. They demanded strong measures to protect travelers.

Later, security officials placed police stations and checkpoints in Hovid, Mazinga, and Sheikh Landik on high alert. Authorities promised tougher security to prevent similar incidents. They assured the public of safety.
