PESHAWAR – The law enforcement agencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have released a comprehensive annual report detailing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa terrorism statistics 2025, revealing a total of 1,588 reported incidents across the province.
This surge in violence resulted in the martyrdom of 502 individuals, including both security personnel and civilians, while proactive operations by security forces successfully neutralized 248 terrorists.

Breakdown of Regional Incidents and Casualties
According to the official data, the province faced a significant wave of unrest, with Bannu emerging as the hardest-hit district with 394 incidents. North Waziristan followed with 181 recorded cases, while South Waziristan reported 102 incidents. The annual record further highlights the severity of the security situation, noting 8 suicide bombings and 116 targeted killing cases reported throughout the year.
In addition to direct combat, authorities maintained a strict crackdown on the financial networks supporting militancy. Officials registered 30 formal cases against the financing of terrorism during 2025 to choke the resources of outlawed outfits.

Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) Performance and IED Explosions
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) remained at the frontline of defense, compiling a detailed report on explosive recoveries. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa terrorism statistics 2025 show that the BDU successfully defused 35 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) across the province. Despite these efforts, 72 IED explosions occurred, from which investigators collected vital forensic evidence.
The technical report further details the scale of weaponry used in these attacks:
- Hand Grenades: BDU experts defused 247 hand grenades, while 133 grenades were used in various blast incidents.
- Rocket Shells: Technicians neutralized 70 rocket shells, though another 68 shells were launched in different attacks.
- Landmines: Authorities defused 7 landmines, while 2 mine explosions were reported.

District-Wise Security Situation
In the provincial capital, Peshawar, the BDU safely disabled 7 IEDs and 16 hand grenades, while 2 explosions were recorded. The situation in Bannu remained particularly critical; while the unit defused 12 IEDs and 41 hand grenades, the district suffered 31 IED explosions and 14 rocket shell attacks.
Other districts also faced significant threats. Bajaur reported 14 IED explosions, though the BDU successfully defused 29 hand grenades in the area. Reports also confirmed that 9 hand grenades and 17 rocket shells were used in Bajaur attacks. Furthermore, security forces defused 28 hand grenades in D.I. Khan, while Kohat reported the use of 24 hand grenades and 8 rocket shells in various incidents.
