PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has released its Annual Report 2025, documenting a year defined by high-stakes counter-terrorism efforts and significant technological upgrades.
Under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the force countered intense militant pressure by combining traditional bravery with modern defensive equipment. Throughout the year, the police dismantled numerous terrorist networks, particularly in the southern and tribal districts, where officers acted as a “wall of iron” to protect the state’s integrity.

According to the KP Police Annual Report 2025, the department conducted 3,277 intelligence-based operations that resulted in the arrest of over 1,300 terrorists. During fierce active encounters, the police killed 459 militants, marking a 43% increase in neutralized terrorists compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, elite units successfully apprehended 29 high-value targets who carried significant bounties on their heads. These operations also led to the recovery of massive caches of hand grenades, suicide jackets, and sophisticated weaponry.
Tactical Bravery and Operational Readiness
Despite a 50% surge in overall threats and 536 direct attacks on personnel, the force maintained high operational readiness. The KP Police Annual Report 2025 notes that while terrorism cases rose by 52%, the police successfully foiled 324 attacks before they could cause harm. Due to improved tactical strategies and better protective gear, the number of police martyrs remained at 159, a figure nearly identical to the previous year despite the much higher frequency of combat.

On the broader security front, the police executed over 18,000 search and strike operations under the National Action Plan, detaining 80,481 suspects. Specialized units played a vital role, with the Bomb Disposal Unit defusing 12 suicide jackets and hundreds of explosives, while the expanded K9 Unit secured over 1,000 sensitive locations.
The force also prioritized infrastructure, completing new police lines in Haripur and Karak and launching specialized thermal sniping courses at the Elite Training Center in Nowshera to provide the force with highly trained marksmen.
Digital Policing and the Safe City Initiative
The KP Police Annual Report 2025 concludes with a strong focus on the future of digital policing. The Peshawar Mega Safe City Project is nearing completion, with 800 high-resolution cameras already active at 125 key locations. Similar surveillance grids are being finalized in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat. This massive technological rollout, including a central control room, is expected to be fully operational by the end of January 2026, providing a modern shield against both terrorism and street crime.
