KP Govt Approves Rehabilitation of Marwat Canal System

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially approved the Marwat canal system rehabilitation project. MPA Tariq Saeed Khan announced this development on Friday. This project aims to turn vast barren lands in the Lakki Marwat district into fertile fields.

Phase-I of the Marwat canal system will cost Rs1 billion. The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has already cleared the scheme. This approval allows the government to launch formal work after completing essential formalities. Tariq Saeed Khan stated that this project fulfills a long-standing demand of the local people.

Agricultural and Socio-Economic Impact

The scheme ensures the availability of sufficient water in the canal. The Marwat canal system will meet agricultural needs in both Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts. Local growers can now bring 170,000 acres of land under cultivation. This will lead to enhanced crop yields and better harvests. Furthermore, the project will improve the socio-economic conditions and living standards of the local population.
