PESHAWAR: Khurram Zeeshan backed by Pakistan Tahrik-e-Insaf (PTI) here Thursday elected senator in the by-election.
Kurram Zeeshan secured 91 votes while his runner up Taj Muhammad Afridi bagged 45 vote while Irfan Salim secured no vote.
The by-election on the general seat of the Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held in the Jirga Hall of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
Polling started at 9 a.m and continued till 4 p.m
This seat had fallen vacant due to the disqualification of Syed Shibli Faraz.
Two candidates, Abid Khan Yousafzai and Nisar Khan, have withdrawn from the election race.
Commissioner of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Saeed Gul, has been appointed as the Returning Officer.
