Peshawar:: The ongoing internet service suspension in Peshawar due to the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) jirga has caused significant disruptions for citizens. Mobile phone and internet services were suspended in Regi and adjacent areas starting from October 3, leaving residents in areas like Hayatabad, University Town, Regi Model Town, and Nasir Bagh facing severe difficulties.
The PTM scheduled its jirga, called the “Pashtun National Court,” for October 11 in Regi, leading to the internet service suspension in Peshawar, which has shut down online businesses. Residents in these areas, who depend on internet connectivity for online shopping and food delivery, have been hit the hardest, as delivery services are unable to communicate with their customers.
In Hayatabad, University Town, Regi Model Town, and Nasir Bagh—areas with a tech-savvy and financially stable population—the internet service suspension in Peshawar has forced many food chains and restaurants to stop accepting online orders. Meanwhile, online shopping platforms have started storing undelivered goods in warehouses, waiting for services to resume so deliveries can be completed. The suspension has severely impacted not only individual users but also the wider business community.
