The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a new directive for Pakistan’s universities. All undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs must now include a HEC mandatory Artificial Intelligence (AI) course. This decision applies to both public and private institutions across the country.

Every student must now complete a three-credit-hour course in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The HEC Executive Director sent a formal letter to all university heads. He stated that AI education is no longer an optional luxury. Instead, it is a critical necessity for the modern workforce.

Adapting to Global Technology Trends
The HEC made this choice due to rapid changes in global technology. AI now plays a key role in healthcare, economy, and governance.
