PESHAWAR – The police have failed to complete the inquiry against SHO Badaber Abdul Ali, also known as Gur Singh, within the 48-hour deadline. Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed had ordered the inquiry after serious allegations surfaced.
Member of National Assembly Shandana Gulzar held a press conference and accused the SHO of abusing his authority. She said he carried out illegal raids and ignored legal procedures. She also claimed that people in her constituency have remained missing for months, FIRs are not registered, and the SHO talks openly about enforcing his personal interpretation of Islamic law.
The issue triggered a mixed public response. Some citizens protested against the SHO, while hundreds of Badaber residents held a rally in his support. The controversy quickly spread across mainstream and social media.
CCPO Qasim Ali Khan responded by appointing the Chief Traffic Officer to lead the inquiry. He ordered the officer to submit a detailed report within two days. Officials said that proven charges would lead to suspension and disciplinary action.
Despite the order, no report has surfaced even after several days. Police sources explained that investigators need more time to record statements, review records, and establish facts. Meanwhile, speculation continues to circulate online, adding to public confusion.
The delay in the inquiry against SHO Badaber has raised serious questions about police accountability. The public is demanding clarity as tensions escalate between opposing groups in the area.
