PESHAWAR – The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has warned that major data inconsistencies are obstructing efforts in profiling terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising alarm over the credibility of current digital records.

In a letter sent to the provincial government, the department outlined key challenges in verifying the identities of suspects listed under Schedule IV and those carrying head money. The correspondence, shared with the Home and Tribal Affairs Department, stressed that faulty or incomplete records are severely undermining the province’s efforts in profiling terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officials revealed that many entries uploaded to the digital profiling platform lacked essential information such as CNIC numbers, leading to duplicate and overlapping records. Data extracted from Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) showed repeated names and property listings, making it impossible to determine authenticity. “Repetitions and missing ID numbers have compromised the reliability of the entire system,” said a senior official.

The excise department emphasized that accurate CNIC information is crucial for effective legal action and proper identification. It has requested that the Home Department provide verified CNICs and copies of identity cards for suspects with similar names and parentage. These steps are deemed essential to improve the accuracy of profiling terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Without verified identity data, officials warn that profiling efforts will remain flawed and open to legal challenges. The department has urged immediate coordination between government bodies to resolve discrepancies and build a credible system for profiling terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
