LOWER KURRAM – A tragic accident in Mandori, Lower Kurram, has claimed the life of a young girl and left three women injured after the roof of a family home suddenly gave way on Sunday morning.
Around 10am, the roof of Asif Khan’s house collapsed unexpectedly, trapping his daughter, Ameera Asif, beneath the rubble. Despite immediate efforts by local residents to rescue those inside, Ameera died at the scene.
Three women in the household were also hurt and were pulled from the debris by neighbours. However, the absence of Rescue 1122 services and emergency medical facilities in the nearby Mandori hospital meant critical medical aid was delayed.
Residents expressed deep concern over the lack of basic emergency infrastructure in the area, calling on the government to urgently establish a rescue 1122 sub-station at Bagan and equip Mandori hospital with essential emergency services.
Lower Kurram, home to thousands, continues to face severe shortages in healthcare and rescue resources, leaving vulnerable communities exposed to avoidable tragedies.
Local voices urged swift government action to address these glaring gaps and prevent further loss of life in this remote region.
